The qualification that opens every door. Our course follows the full Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580) syllabus, with expert teaching, regular practice and personalised support, and we enter each student for the Core or Extended tier that best suits them.
What to expect.
Following the Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580) syllabus, students work through number, algebra and graphs, coordinate geometry, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry, transformations and vectors, probability and statistics across a two-year programme. The course is tiered: the Core tier targets grades C–G, while the Extended tier reaches grades A*–E for students aiming higher. Lessons balance conceptual understanding with exam technique, ensuring students are confident in both mathematical reasoning and timed paper performance, with past paper practice embedded from the start.
Topics covered.
Number
Types of number, fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion, indices, standard form, surds, rounding and bounds, and using a calculator accurately.
Algebra & graphs
Algebraic manipulation, equations and inequalities, simultaneous and quadratic equations, sequences, functions and graphing linear, quadratic and other functions.
Coordinate & geometry
Coordinate geometry, gradients and straight-line graphs, geometrical terms and constructions, angle and circle properties, similarity and congruence.
Mensuration & trigonometry
Perimeter, area and volume of 2D and 3D shapes; Pythagoras' theorem; sine, cosine and tangent ratios; the sine and cosine rules; and bearings.
Transformations & vectors
Reflections, rotations, translations and enlargements, together with vector notation and the use of vectors to describe and combine movements.
Probability & statistics
Single and combined events, tree and Venn diagrams, data collection and display, averages and spread, cumulative frequency and histograms.

How progress is measured.
Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580) is assessed by two written papers and is tiered. Core candidates sit Paper 1 (non-calculator, 1 hour 30 minutes) and Paper 3 (calculator, 1 hour 30 minutes), each worth 50%, and are eligible for grades C to G. Extended candidates sit Paper 2 (non-calculator, 2 hours) and Paper 4 (calculator, 2 hours), each worth 50%, and are eligible for grades A* to E. There is no coursework. Alongside the exams, BOS marks weekly homework to exam standard and sets regular mock papers graded against Cambridge boundaries, so students and families always know the predicted grade and the next area to work on.
Where it leads.
Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics is essential preparation for A-Level Mathematics, the sciences, economics and engineering. Grades A* to C give a solid foundation for Cambridge International AS & A Level Mathematics, and a maths qualification is a core requirement for virtually all university courses and apprenticeships.
