Science.
Spark curiosity about the natural world. Our KS2 science programme covers biology, chemistry and physics through live demonstrations, virtual experiments and investigative thinking.
What to expect.
Students explore living things, materials, forces, electricity, light, sound, Earth and space. Every lesson includes interactive demonstrations and scientific enquiry, teaching students to ask questions, make predictions, gather evidence and draw conclusions. The emphasis is on understanding how science works, not just memorising facts.
Topics covered.
Living things & habitats
Classification, life cycles, food chains, human biology and the interdependence of organisms in their environments.
Materials & their properties
States of matter, reversible and irreversible changes, dissolving, separating mixtures and the properties of everyday materials.
Forces & motion
Gravity, friction, air resistance, water resistance and simple machines. Understanding how forces affect movement.
Electricity & circuits
Building simple circuits, understanding conductors and insulators, and exploring how electrical components work.
Earth & space
The solar system, day and night, seasons, the moon and how the Earth moves relative to the sun and other planets.
Beyond the syllabus.
- Scientific enquiry and investigation
- Observation and accurate recording
- Predicting, testing and drawing conclusions
- Understanding cause and effect
- Scientific vocabulary and communication
How progress is measured.
Teacher-assessed classwork and practical investigations. Half-term topic tests measure knowledge retention. Termly reports cover attainment in all three science disciplines and scientific enquiry skills.
Where it leads.
KS2 Science leads into KS3 Science, where students study biology, chemistry and physics in greater depth with more formal practical methodology, preparing for IGCSE Science.
How science lessons work.
Live & interactive.
Every lesson is delivered live by a qualified teacher. Students participate through voice, chat, whiteboards and breakout rooms.
Small classes.
Maximum fifteen students per class. Every child gets individual attention, feedback and support throughout the lesson.
Recorded for review.
Every lesson is recorded and available on the student portal. Students can re-watch, revise and catch up at any time.
A fifteen-minute conversation could change your child's education.
Speak with our team. No pressure, no jargon, just honest answers about whether BOS is the right fit for your family.
