What to expect.
Students work through a structured curriculum covering number and place value, the four operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, measurement, geometry and statistics. Lessons emphasise understanding over memorisation, with regular problem-solving challenges that teach students to think mathematically and explain their reasoning.

Number & place value
Reading, writing, ordering and comparing numbers. Understanding place value up to millions and working with negative numbers.
Four operations
Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with increasing complexity. Mental and written methods.
Fractions, decimals & percentages
Equivalent fractions, ordering, adding and subtracting fractions. Converting between fractions, decimals and percentages.
Measurement & geometry
Length, mass, capacity, time, perimeter, area and volume. Properties of 2D and 3D shapes, angles and coordinates.
Statistics
Interpreting and constructing tables, bar charts, pie charts and line graphs. Calculating mean averages.

How progress is measured.
Regular in-class quizzes and weekly homework marked by the teacher. Half-term assessments benchmark progress against national expectations. Termly reports give parents a clear picture of attainment and next steps.
Where it leads.
KS2 Mathematics prepares students for KS3, where they will extend into algebra, ratio, probability and more advanced geometry ahead of IGCSE Mathematics.
