What to expect.
Students explore significant historical periods and events alongside geographical concepts including maps, climate, physical features and human impact on the environment. Lessons are rich with discussion, encouraging students to ask questions, evaluate evidence and form their own views about the past and the world they live in.
Topics covered.
Ancient civilisations
Exploring the achievements and daily life of ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. Understanding how these civilisations shaped the modern world.
British history
Key periods including the Romans in Britain, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and significant events from the medieval to modern era.
World geography
Continents, oceans, climate zones, biomes and natural features. Understanding where places are and why they matter.
Maps & fieldwork
Using and interpreting maps, atlases and globes. Grid references, compass directions and basic geographical data collection.
People & communities
How people live in different parts of the world. Trade, culture, migration and the relationship between humans and their environment.

How progress is measured.
Teacher-marked classwork and topic projects. Half-term assessments test knowledge and understanding of key concepts. Termly reports cover progress across both history and geography strands.
Where it leads.
KS2 Humanities prepares students for separate History and Geography subjects at KS3, where they will study each discipline in greater depth and begin developing analytical skills.

Every lesson is delivered live by a qualified teacher. Students participate through voice, chat, whiteboards and breakout rooms.
Small classes.
Maximum fifteen students per class. Every child gets individual attention, feedback and support throughout the lesson.
Recorded for review.
Every lesson is recorded and available on the student portal. Students can re-watch, revise and catch up at any time.
