Mathematics.
Build mathematical confidence for IGCSE and beyond. Our KS3 programme extends number work into algebra, geometry, ratio, probability and statistics.
What to expect.
Students develop fluency in arithmetic and move into more abstract mathematical thinking. Lessons balance procedural practice with problem-solving, reasoning and real-world application. Teachers use interactive whiteboards, dynamic geometry tools and collaborative activities to make concepts accessible and engaging.
Topics covered.
Number & algebra
Expressions, equations, sequences, inequalities, indices and working with negative numbers. From arithmetic to algebraic thinking.
Fractions, decimals & percentages
Operations with fractions and decimals. Percentage change, compound interest and converting between forms.
Ratio & proportion
Simplifying ratios, dividing quantities, direct and inverse proportion. Real-world applications including recipes, maps and scale.
Geometry & measures
Angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, transformations, constructions, area, volume and Pythagoras' theorem.
Probability & statistics
Experimental and theoretical probability. Collecting, representing and analysing data using averages and charts.
Beyond the syllabus.
- Algebraic reasoning and manipulation
- Spatial and geometric thinking
- Problem-solving with multiple steps
- Mathematical communication and proof
- Data analysis and statistical literacy
How progress is measured.
Weekly homework and in-class problem sets marked with feedback. Half-term tests cover each topic area. Termly reports benchmark progress against IGCSE entry expectations.
Where it leads.
KS3 Mathematics leads directly into IGCSE Mathematics at KS4, a two-year programme culminating in a Cambridge International examination.
How mathematics lessons work.
Live & interactive.
Every lesson is delivered live by a qualified teacher. Students participate through voice, chat, whiteboards and breakout rooms.
Small classes.
Maximum fifteen students per class. Every child gets individual attention, feedback and support throughout the lesson.
Recorded for review.
Every lesson is recorded and available on the student portal. Students can re-watch, revise and catch up at any time.
A fifteen-minute conversation could change your child's education.
Speak with our team. No pressure, no jargon, just honest answers about whether BOS is the right fit for your family.
